RTC FC Finish Fifth in 2026 Premier League as Strong Season Falls Short of Top Four

Royal Thimphu College Football Club finished fifth in the 2026 BoB Bhutan Premier League after a competitive campaign that saw the team remain in contention among the top sides.

RTC FC ended the season with 28 points from 18 matches, recording eight wins, four draws and six defeats. The team scored 29 goals and conceded 20, giving them a positive goal difference of nine.

The result places RTC just outside the top four. Paro FC finished first with 43 points, followed by Thimphu City FC with 40 points, while Transport United FC finished third with 30 points. Thimphu FC took fourth place with 32 points, leaving RTC four points behind them.

RTC began the season strongly, defeating Tensung FC 4–0 in their opening match. They also recorded wins against BFF Academy, Ugyen Academy and other league opponents during the campaign. However, dropped points in several matches prevented the team from moving higher in the standings.

One of the notable results came against Drukpa FC, where RTC played out a 1–1 draw. More recently, RTC ended their campaign with a 5–1 victory over Tensung FC on September 28.

Although fifth place means RTC missed out on the top four, their eight victories and positive goal difference show that the team remained competitive throughout the season.

For a college-based club competing against established teams, the campaign provides both positives and areas for improvement. The challenge for RTC now will be to build on this season and turn competitive performances into more consistent results in the next campaign.
