The Department of Communication Arts and Creative Media welcomed its new batch of students with a lively welcome programme held on Friday, 9th October, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. The event marked the beginning of a new academic journey for the first-year students, bringing together students from the first, second, third and fourth years, along with faculty members, to celebrate the spirit of unity, creativity and togetherness.

The programme was organised to welcome the newcomers into the department and provide them with an opportunity to connect with their seniors and faculty members in a friendly and enjoyable environment. Filled with performances, laughter and interactive activities, the event created a memorable start to the first-year students’ journey in the field of communication arts and creative media.

One of the highlights of the programme was the fashion walk performed by the first-year students. The newcomers confidently took to the stage, showcasing their style, creativity and individuality. Their performance added colour and excitement to the event, allowing them to express themselves and make their first appearance before their seniors and teachers. The fashion walk was a moment of pride for the new students as they stepped into a new chapter of their academic lives.

The senior students also contributed to the celebration through a series of lively performances. Students from the second, third and fourth years entertained the audience with energetic dance performances and melodious songs. Their performances filled the atmosphere with enthusiasm and excitement, encouraging students and faculty members to enjoy the occasion together. The stage became a platform for students to showcase their talents while strengthening the bond between different year groups.

Adding a fun and entertaining element to the programme, the faculty members participated in a game that brought laughter and excitement to the audience. In the activity, participants paired up, placed a balloon between their heads and danced while trying to keep the balloon from falling. The game tested their coordination, balance and teamwork, creating several amusing moments for everyone watching.

The competition ended with Programme Leader Sir Nithil Dennis and student Lakden Dendup emerging as the winners. Their victory added to the excitement of the event and demonstrated that the welcome programme was not only an occasion for students to perform but also an opportunity for faculty members and students to interact beyond the classroom.

The participation of students from all four academic years and the faculty members reflected the department’s sense of community. The programme provided a welcoming space for first-year students to become familiar with the people who will be part of their academic journey, while also allowing seniors and teachers to share in the excitement of a new beginning.

Overall, the welcome programme was a celebration of creativity, confidence and connection. Through fashion, music, dance and games, the Department of Communication Arts and Creative Media successfully created a cheerful atmosphere that brought everyone together.

As the first-year students begin their journey in the department, the event served as a reminder that university life is not only about academic learning but also about discovering talents, building friendships and creating lasting memories. The celebration marked a promising start to a new chapter for the students and the department alike.
