Thirteen volunteers from the Bhutan Red Cross Society (BRCS) RTC Club, together with members of the Econscious Club and EFN Society Club, carried out a cleaning campaign on Sunday morning along the road from the Royal Thimphu College (RTC) gate to the campus dustbin area.

The program, which ran from 8:50 a.m. to 12 noon, was part of the club’s ongoing community service initiatives. Equipped with cleaning tools, the students collected a total of five bags of waste despite being fewer in number than expected.

Organizers stated that the primary objective of the campaign was not only to improve cleanliness on campus but also to raise awareness on environmental responsibility and to foster a culture of volunteerism among young people. “This initiative is a small yet meaningful step toward a cleaner and greener environment,” the BRCS RTC Club said in a statement.

The cleaning drive also emphasized the importance of teamwork, with members working in groups to cover different sections of the road. Beyond the environmental benefits, participants noted that the activity strengthened camaraderie and a sense of shared responsibility within the student community.

The BRCS RTC Club extended its gratitude to the Red Cross headquarters for its support and expressed hopes of mobilizing a larger number of participants in future campaigns. Plans are underway to expand the scope of upcoming clean-up efforts to cover more areas around the college campus.
