Students can enjoy movies every Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Screenings are open to all, reflecting the club’s vision that cinema is for everyone
The Filmmaker Club at Royal Thimphu College (RTC) has launched weekly movie screenings to give students a chance to relax, enjoy films, and share conversations on creativity and storytelling. Screenings will take place every Wednesday at 5 p.m. in A01, open to all students regardless of membership.
Founded on 20th August 2025 under the guidance of Unniekrishnan Sir, with support from Sir Badsha and Sir Nithil, the club aims not only to entertain but also to educate. Alongside screenings, members can join workshops on filmmaking and camera handling, building practical skills for those interested in pursuing the craft.

“College life can get very busy, so this is a wonderful way to take a break and spend time with friends,” said Tshering Yangchen, a member of the club. “These screenings are exciting because they let us experience different types of movies, not just the popular ones but also films that can inspire us and make us think.”
The Film Club hopes to make screenings and workshops a lasting tradition, strengthening community spirit while deepening students’ appreciation for cinema.
